\ Innovation trend commentary /

In this series, we will introduce the themes and ventures that were taken up in each morning pitch, and send out information that contributes to Japanese innovation.

This time, the event was held on September 7th.Web3特集"is.

Developing internet activities focused on individuals

Currently, the use of blockchain-based decentralized networks called Web 3.0 is becoming widespread, replacing the traditional network format called Web 2.0. Web 2.0 had the problem of managing personal information, leaving security and freedom of expression at the discretion of companies. In contrast, with Web 3.0, Internet activities are more focused on individuals and do not rely on corporate-operated platforms. Based on these characteristics, many Web 3.0-type products are emerging in various fields to replace the centralized ones owned by global companies like GAFA.

We will introduce typical Web 3.0 projects by area. Blockchain infrastructure includes the Ethereum (ETH) chain, which is the most actively developed chain in the world. Bitcoin is well known in the crypto asset field.

In the NFT field, there is a growing movement that goes beyond the framework of digital art, and examples include projects that turn works by Japanese artists into NFTs. In the GameFi market, which combines gaming and finance, blockchain games using real-name soccer players are gaining momentum.

In the blockchain-based decentralized autonomous organization known as DAO, DAO issues one NFT per day to liven up the community, and an article posting platform that converts each article into NFT has a strong presence. doing. Representative examples of the metaverse (virtual space) include projects that turn everything from land, avatars, and items placed on land into NFTs, and virtual shops that sell various items as NFTs.

Shift to practical application phase by establishing new technologies such as SBT

Next, I will explain the latest trends in the Web 3.0 area. In order to look at the trading volume of crypto assets as an indicator, this time we will look at the trends in the trading volume of a decentralized exchange called DEX. Triggered by the bursting of the NFT bubble and the bankruptcy of US FTX Trading and US Silicon Valley Bank, the current trading volume has declined, albeit slightly.

However, with the establishment of new technologies such as non-transferable SBT (Soulbound Token) and the progress of practical application of NFT, it can be predicted that Web 3.0 is not just a speculation, but is entering a practical phase.

NFT technology was established in 2017, and through the stages of NFT 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0, it has come to be used not only for digital art but also for various purposes. Although the current transaction volume is on a downward trend compared to the temporary NFT bubble, it is expected that the use of NFTs for practical purposes will increase in the future.

Yamakoshi Village in Niigata creates more digital villagers than residents

In Japan, town revitalization projects utilizing Web 3.0 are becoming more active. A typical example is Yamakoshi Village, Niigata Prefecture, which was known as a marginal village. We were aiming to increase the number of people involved by issuing NFTs with the motif of Nishikigoi, a specialty product, but in the one year since the release, 1037 digital villagers have been created, which exceeds the 800 residents of Yamakoshi Village.

Through the DAO, NFT holders are collaborating on measures to increase the population of Yamakoshi Village, and a metaverse space is being created for digital villagers to gather. There are also cases where digital villagers actually visit Yamakoshi Village and participate in helping with village festivals and events. Our goal is to increase the number of digital villagers to 10,000 through DAO.

Sports clubs in Fukuoka Prefecture are using a combination of Fan Tokens and DAO to promote measures to increase the club's popularity, develop the area around the club, and increase the number of people involved. Digital trading cards containing limited live images of famous idols as NFTs can not only be held, but also incorporated into games.

There are many cases of collaboration between venture companies and large companies, and major travel companies are using NFTs and blockchain to create new purposes for travel with the goal of regional revitalization.

This time we will introduce five companies from three areas: GameFi, wallets, and consulting.

Maintain and improve motivation to improve health through the healthcare ecosystem (HashPort Co., Ltd.)

HashPort (Minato-ku, Tokyo) provides consulting, product planning and development in the blockchain area. Specifically, we conducted Web3.0 consulting using SBT. In addition, we support the success of projects by drawing on our experience in Japan's first IEO (virtual currency financing) to formulate strategies for token issuance, and we are able to provide services in the Web 3.0 area all at once. is our strength. We also plan to build a healthcare ecosystem that aims to maintain and improve motivation for health promotion using the token ecosystem.

Eliminate issues in non-competitive areas and concentrate resources on competitive areas of business (Ginco Co., Ltd.)

Ginco (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) provides Web 3.0 infrastructure and solutions that accompany businesses from upstream to downstream, providing comprehensive support for the creation of Web 3.0 businesses. Web 3.0 has issues in non-competitive areas such as (1) technical difficulties in cutting-edge areas, and (2) security burden commensurate with financial business. The purpose is to efficiently resolve a series of issues through services and concentrate resources on competitive areas of business, such as public relations/marketing, economic formation, design, and community management.

Collaborating with famous fashion brands to support the development and sales of NFT collections (Kyuzan Co., Ltd.)

Kyuzan provides a Web3.0 development platform that provides a one-stop user experience. Web 3.0 has the aspect of high development costs and high risks. For this reason, the number of use cases is not increasing, there are few established ones, and it is currently difficult to know what to create. Platforms play a role in solving these challenges. We are also actively collaborating with external parties such as major game software companies and apparel e-commerce support companies, and in collaboration with a famous fashion brand, we supported the development and sales of an NFT collection.

Even if you do not own a wallet, you can create one on the spot and receive NFTs (PBADAO Co., Ltd.)

PBADAO (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) is a comprehensive infrastructure business utilizing blockchain that plans, develops, and operates wallets, token issuance, authentication systems, etc. The service provided is an NFT solution that utilizes blockchain technology, and even those who do not own a wallet (electronic wallet) can easily create one on the spot and receive NFTs. We have artists, engineers, community managers, and marketers in-house and are developing a wide variety of NFT projects. In the future, we will work with local governments to focus on regional revitalization.

A one-stop solution to support community building (SHINSEKAI Technologies Co., Ltd.)

SHINSEKAI Technologies (Shinsekai Technologies, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) provides a one-stop solution that supports the construction of Web 3.0 communities. Considering that the implementation of Web 3.0 often fails due to DAO management, we are encouraging the formation of a passionate fan community using our unique management model and data analysis tools. We have a track record of supporting many companies, including major game companies.

Until now, Web 3.0 has been mainly used in finance and games. In the future, it is expected to be applied in a wide range of areas such as carbon credits, which are used to buy and sell health and greenhouse gas reduction effects, and the market size is expected to expand dramatically.
